PREVENT HEALTHCARE RELATED INFECTIONS

HCA Capitol View
Franklin, TN

Located in Franklin Tennessee, the Hospital Corporation of America’s [HCA] multitenant, 16-story office tower provides 330,000 sq. ft. of office space for Parallon Business Solutions, the Sarah Cannon Research Institute, HealthTrust and HCA executives.

The Paragon Airflow Measurement Systems that were provided for the building were essential in helping ensure proper air changes and improve infection control in patient rooms, surgery/trauma and endo suites and isolation rooms. These protective environments within the hospital are the biggest energy consumers but Paragon was able to provide a solution that would properly pressurize the spaces and assist in building-wide energy savings.

Through the careful evaluation of building system performance, economics, aesthetics and site-provided resources, the project achieved LEED Silver precertification. It is predicted that energy utilization will be 20 percent lower than the average building of the same size and use. Other sustainable design characteristics include the use of low-flow plumbing fixtures that reduce the building’s use of potable water by 20 percent, and no potable water is used for landscape irrigation.
