Princess Nourah University
Riyadh, Saudi Arabia
Princess Nourah Bint Abdulrahman University (PNU) was founded in 1970 as the first college for women in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. 25 years later it was merged with the surrounding women’s colleges in Riyadh, and with 102 colleges in Riyadh it is currently the largest women’s university in the world. These colleges also include preschools, primary, intermediate, and secondary schools. The new PNU campus was constructed in 2 years with the latest materials, methods, and machinery. The campus is made up of 600 smart buildings, with the latest technologies, and can house up to 60,000 students. The school has a library, sports facilities, residence units for students and faculty, recreation centers, research centers, student support centers (cafés, bookstores, pharmacy, bank, market), a convention center, and even its own metro system!
The campus was also built with a focus on sustainability: it has solar panels, a solar thermal plant, and a water recycling plant. Paragon was selected by PNU to provide Airflow Measurement Systems that fit into their sustainable, yet high tech, design methods. This was the biggest project Paragon has completed to date, providing equipment for the Research & Medical Centers housed on the campus. Over 823 pieces of Paragon equipment were installed in over 10 buildings at various levels. The college is intent on helping build a knowledge economy in Saudi Arabia through the contributions of its students by providing advanced learning environments and building technology. The Paragon Airflow Measurement Systems that were installed at the college will contribute to good Indoor Air Quality, which will create a favorable environment for students and staff to perform, learn, educate, and maintain an overall sense of wellbeing.
